Things are going well........

He has done really well off of the vent. He has had an NJ tube to feed him, and he has done really well with foods, but with the NJ it goes to your intestines, and not the stomach, so he has been 10 days without any food in his belly. Between that and the sore throat from the all of the crap that has been in his throat like the breathing tube, suction things, and the NJ tube, he really doesn't want to eat anything.

He is not used to swallowing either, so now he is basically having to learn how to swallow all over again. He knows what his bottle is, but he doesn't have enough strength to wrap his mouth around it and suck. I am sure that it will all come back though. He only has a central line in him, and not an IV, so I think he is getting dehydrated. His mouth is really dry, and his eyes have dark circles around them, and are kind of sunken in. So he is not getting hardly any fluids, and they are giving him lasix, which is a diuretic, that makes him pee excess fluid out. HMMMMMMMM.......makes a whole lot of sense dosen't it??????

Last night Andy and I took shifts holding him. He dosen't want to be laid down, do ya blame him??? He is pretty dang happy despite everything though. He was playing patty cake, and peekaboo with me and smiling. Everytime someone with scrubs on walks by him he says no, no, no. It is pretty funny. So I think we are on the mend, and working our way on getting out of this place. We just have to keep it this way. I think once he gets some fluids into him and can drink and eat again we will be on our way home. We are still in the PICU today, so we will see how the day goes. It feels so good to have my baby back. I have missed him so much!!!!! Thanks for all of the prayers!!!
