We Are Free!!!

Seriously, have you ever tried to get released from a hospital on Thanksgiving day? You would think that we were asking for them to let us out of prison 15 years early for good behavior.

The Resident that was on, was the biggest cow on the face of the earth. She was not about to let Rhett go because he still needs oxygen. That is the only thing that was keeping him there. Andy and I told her that if that was the only reason we were staying, then we better take up permanent residence. He always needs oxygen anytime he is sick, and at night as well. She was so snotty about the whole thing.

We were trying to be as nice as we could, but she was barking orders at Rhett's nurse, who by the way was the most amazing nurse we have ever had. He fought tooth and nail to get us out of there. The resident wouldn't listen to a word we said, so we politely told her to get the hell out of our room and find the attending.

Well, since it's Thanksgiving, apparently the attending doctor decided that she did not need to be anywhere near the hospital, so we made her talk to us on the phone. As soon as we told her that we had a pulse ox at home, and we really knew what we were doing she was all for letting us go home.

Rhett needing oxygen is bread and butter at our house. We are completely prepared when it comes to that.

Once I got off of the phone it took all I had not to look at the stupid resident that was "Tsking" my every word, and stick my tongue out, blow a big raspberry at her and say, "I told you so."

Rhett's nurse was about to ring that resident's neck by the time we got done. She had signed discharge papers twice, then gone back and ripped them up because she kept finding reasons for him to be there.

As soon as she signed them a third time we were all packed up and ready to go. A quick pull on the IV, and we got the hell out of dodge before they changed their minds again. When we got out to the car, Rhett said "Hi" to it, and then as I went to put him in his car seat he hugged it.

I finally got a warm shower, (Why are hospital showers so cold?) and I have clean underwear and silky smooth legs. I feel like a woman again.

I smell pretty good too, thank you Bath and Body Works. Have you smelled their Peppermint Twist Temptations line? Pure heaven.

Well, I am off to hang out in my own soft bed, and love on my little guy and the rest of my kiddos.

Can you believe it? For the first time ever we went up to the hospital without any MAJOR drama. I am on cloud nine.

This has been the best Thanksgiving ever.

Now we get to do it all again in two weeks. Sigh........

Isn't kind of funny how some doctors just don't get it. We have dealt with things like that a few times ourselves. You kind of want to say..."Hey, I could probably take care of him better than your nurses," not to say that the nurses are bad or anything...it's just that mommy's are better : ). Well I am glad you were able to make it home and I hope you all enjoy your holiday. Always praying for you, Amy

Thank goodness they finally let you go. Sounds like getting to go home was a challenge! I will be praying that he stays healthy for the surgery.
