Wish us Luck.....

Well I just gave him his last bottle of pediasure before he can't have anymore solids, and I have a bottle of pedialyte sitting on my nightstand ready for that 2 am drink that he needs so often.

After 4:30 am he can't have anything. We have to be up to the hospital at 7:30 am. He is gonna be grumpy.

I hope we are still on, as I got a call at 4:30 this afternoon asking me when he last showed symptoms of Rotavirus. I told them the day after Thanksgiving, and I could actually hear the pre-op nurse rolling her eyes over the phone. Then this is the conversation we had...

Snotty nurse: "Ugh, does the ENT know that he had Rotavirus?"

Me: "Well I have talked to three of his nurses this week back and forth and they all know that he was hospitalized with it, so I would think he does."

Snotty nurse: "Well, it's still possible that they can "Shed" it for up to 10 to 12 days afterwards, we might not be able to do surgery." (Okay, what the hell does "shed it" mean???)

Me: "Okay.....so what do you want me to do?"

Snotty nurse: "Nothing, I will have to talk to the ENT and see if he still wants to do it. I will call you back, but I doubt it will happen. I can't believe he even got it this early in the season."

Click......

You know, it's not like I wanted to sit in the hospital the week of Thanksgiving, it's not like I wanted him to get sick at all, and we have never had it before, so how was I to know it would present a problem with his surgery? He has been fine for almost two weeks now. Blast those snotty pre-op nurses. I have enough issues with my nerves without dealing with them!

And, guess who never called back.

So I take it we are still on. But I am telling you, if I get up there and they send me home, I am having a come apart. They will have to put me in a rubber room with bouncy walls for a while, because my nerves are shot, and I don't think I can handle the build up to the actual surgery any more than I already have to this month.

I know this isn't anything major, but I am telling you anytime he goes under anesthesia I am a basket case. It doesn't ever get any easier no matter how mild the surgery is.

Okay, I really need to get to bed now. It's an early morning for those of us that like to sleep till 9 am.

Please keep my little one in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow that everything goes smoothly and that there are no complications. That's all I want. No more, no less. Thank you, I know that all the positive vibes and prayers will keep him safe.

Hi Pam. I think some of the staff at most hospitals seem to forget that your child is a person that has a family that is worried sick. It just becomes a job for some people. I always straighten them out and remind them.
I am rooting for you and will be anxiously awaiting an update. I have a panic attack everytime I enter the hospital. We haven't been through half of what you have so I just can't imagined how freaked out you are. Sending many hugs and prayers!!!

We'll be praying today. We've been doing so every night in Braska's bedtime prayers to get ready for today. And we'll pray for your sanity, too, Pam!

Hi Pam. If you need to talk from the hospital, please do call. I keep telling you that I am with you and Rhett in spirit. I still am. Darn that nurse for being such a witch. I'm so sorry. We will undergo our procedure in just over a week, and I feel your pain. "General" is no fun and for you, I can only imagine. Praying for you as always. Hugs to you and dear Rhetters. Love you...
