Our Weekend Fun......

So Rhett's NG tube kept leaking all over this weekend. The cap would pop off, and he would leave a pool of stomach contents all over. So after trying to tape it shut to no avail, we decided to take out the old one and replace it with a new one. While it was out we tried getting him to eat and drink, but he wouldn't.

But we did get some happy pictures while it was out.

This one is in the tub with Chloee, and Hunter helping wash him.

Then some cute ones of him just getting out of the tub. I love his fuzzy head......

Getting set up to replace the tube......

The Superhero jammies that our brave guy will be wearing.....

Now here I have to stop and tell you my freak me out story. They tell you that every time you replace the feeding tube to switch sides. So I tried putting it in his right side. I was having a hard time getting it to go up and in, then all of the sudden he swallowed weird, coughed, and it came out of his MOUTH.

My first thought was, "Oh S***!!! I broke him!!!" They always tell you to worry about it going into his lungs, but nobody ever told me it could come out of his mouth!!! I pulled it out, and decided to try the left side again, and it went in easily, but I forgot to cap it off, and when I went to check for placement, I realized that he was leaking all over Andy's side of the bed. For once he got a wet spot.....(sorry had to throw that in there, I know this is supposed to be a G blog.) But at least I knew it was in the right spot!!

Then since I am the Bad Guy, the superhero had to go pout with Daddy for a little bit, and boy did he milk that one......

Then here he is, and not happy by the way, getting his dinner with his newly placed NG Tube that I did all by myself, and I didn't break him after all. Thank.you.very.much.

Way to go, Pam! And after him coughing it out his mouth?! I can't say I ever had that happen in my dozens of NG placements with Braska. That would have startled me a little. What size french tube do they have him using? It looks so big, poor thing! I can't imagine trying to put on in Braska now...she'd fight us off, I'm sure. You're doing GREAT!

Wow. Great work. That looks like a lot of equipment for the little guy. You are an amazing mom and dad! The bath pictures are adorable. He does have beautiful hair.

Rhett is sooo sticken cute...I LOVE seeing pictures of him. Back when Kaden had a ng-tube, he threw up and it came out of his mouth along with everything else.

Daddies are always the good guys, so is Kaden's daddy. Anyway, I hope you all have a great, uneventful week. By the way I think you are hilarious with the whole wet spot thing ; )!!!

Love, Amy

P.S is there anyway you can e-mail me your e-mail address.

What a beautiful family you have. My son Joanthan had a G tube for 2years and I hated having to change it...I always thought I'm going to mess up. Superhero PJ's are great for a day like this...you both fall into that category. Glad I found your blog.

It is so great that even through the hard, scary stuff you find the time... MAKE the time to let the kids be kids. And you find humor in the horror. I think I've said it before, but it's bears repeating: YOU AMAZE ME! xoxoxo

LOL! I almost peed my pants when I read "Oh S***!! I broke him!" That was so freaking funny! I tried to put one down on one of my confused adult patients and finally got down as far as I needed to and he opened his mouth and it was coiled in his mouth like a snake! After that, every single time I tried, it came out his mouth, but I never thought I broke him! LOL! You are too funny!
