Rough Night......

Rhett had a pretty rough night. He threw up blood three different times, and considering that he hadn't eaten anything at all all day long it was a pretty significant amount. The first time it was old blood mixed with new, and the second and third times it was pretty much just old stuff that had been sitting in his stomach.

They finally gave him some zofran just before I went to bed for the night. I actually got a sleep room. Usually they are all full, so I got to sleep for a little bit.

I haven't seen him yet this morning, I can't go in until 8 am because they kick everyone out from 7 to 8 each morning and evening for shift change. Yesterday was a really rough one. He hurts alot, and is sleeping quite a bit.

His heart rate is still pretty low when he is just relaxing. It sits at about 58. I still wonder sometimes if that's okay, but the cardiologist says it's fine, and he is amazing so I trust him.

Thank you again for all of the prayers. We may get transferred to the floor sometime today. It just depends on how Rhett did overnight.

Precious Rhett and family: My sister sent me your blog; she is a friend of the Homer's. I feel compelled to respond as I read about your story. I am an RN in a NICU and I see miracles everyday. I have personally discharged babies to their families that I never thought would make it. Please let your children now that miracles happen everyday! I will be praying for you and your family. For a miracle and the strength needed for rough days. Lots of love.

I've just come upon your blog via our local NE WI Down Syndrome Family network blogsite & thru the Zoromski chronicles. My kids and I have played Rhett's Signing Times audition/outakes video over and over-WE LOVE IT! He is so incredibly cute and talented! My Wyatt is 3 1/2 and will only sign a couple things on occasion.I feel the need to let you know that although we don't know each other-it's that one extra chromosome that brings many of us together. I caught myself having a pity party last nite and once I read your story, my energy shifted to Rhett and your bird flock. Next Easter I am sure he'll be signing Rabbit. GOD BLESS!

Brings back a lot of memories from our time at the PICU. Glad for the good doctors! And the prayers will be an added measure of help, so hang in there.
