I Really Hate Friday's and Weekends......
Rhett started in on Wednesday with an ever slight wet cough. I thought, "Hmmmm, there is no way he can be getting sick, we have just finished up 6 weeks of 2 different antibiotics."
Yesterday it got a little worse. Last night it got really bad. This morning he could hardly breath and damn near coughed his feeding tube out. So off to the Dr. we went.
Results????
Still unknown on the chest x-ray, but the Dr. said that he is "tight, wheezy and crackly."
His right ear is still infected and draining even after ear drops, Amoxicillan, and Omnicef.
For right now we have a prescription of Zithromax that I have yet to fill because on the way home he spiked a horrid fever and turned all sorts of funky colors. After Tylenol, and a 1/2 of a feed he went down for a nap, and since I didn't want to leave him alone, I laid with him and fell asleep too.
I simply refuse to take him to Wal-mart to get his prescription filled when his immune system is already down.
So now we wait for Daddy to get home.
Of course this always happens on Friday's or the Weekend, so if he gets any worse we have to go up to PCMC.
ARGH.
Please keep Rhett in your prayers.

UPDATE......
Got the chest x-ray results, and there is still the one spot that looks cloudy that he has had for months now. (They are thinking it is just scar tissue.)
So the Dr. feels like it is bronchitis. We are still going to do the antibiotic, and watch him closely.
But now he is not tolerating his feeds, he keeps throwing up, and has lots of thick slimy drool. So I am going to try giving him some Pedialyte later. Another blessing to have this feeding tube. I can give him little bolus's of fluids with a syringe and he doesn't have to swallow. He seems like his throat hurts.
We are alternating Tylenol and Motrin every four hours. My sister went to get his prescription for me, and some laundry soap. We are so blessed to have her.
I really feel like we will be able to handle this illness at home as long as he can tolerate at least some of his feeds, and enough liquids to stay hydrated.
Thanks for keeping him in your prayers.

Oooh dear. Poor baby. Here's hoping that ear infection gets cleared up SOON...maybe it is the cause of the current yuck and clearing it up will clear all the rest of the yuck. Does he already have tubes?
Be well and take care of yourself as well as your little one!
Aw, man! Tell Rhett that Nik said "Dude, you gotta get better soon!"
