Recovery Is Always The Worst Part.........

Rhett is in a buch of pain, and he is not a happy camper. This surgery has been brutal on him. He is still requiring morphine every four hours and acutally needs it every three, so that last hour is really hard for both of us. Once he gets it you can feel his whole body relax, and he isn't so agitated.

I keep thinking he should be doing better, but I have to remember that this was an open procedure, and they did do the extra work of tacking down his patch from his hernia repair too.

---Ugh, he just puked all over MY pillow. Good thing the washers and dryers here are working again!!----

When I say throwing up it's not like he is actually throwing up stomach contents or anything, it's just the white foamy drool.

He seems to be enjoying soaking me with either slobber or pee. I woke up this morning and realized both of us, and the bed had been soake....I was just hoping it wasn't me----- :)

So we still haven't seen a Dr. I am hoping they round soon and give us some sort of a plan. The resident came in this morning at 6 am and to tell you the truth I vaugley remember it. I remeber something about not trying to start feeds till tomoroow where he has been gooing alot from his tube still, and still dealing with the inflamation issues as well.

They have changed the way they administer meds now. It helps eiiminate the human error factor. ALthough there can still be some type of mistake. But this system is much better. they have to scan the meds, and then scan Rhett's name tag to see if the dosages and patients match up.

Well, I really should think of showering while Rhett is in his Morphine Euphoria and doesn't seem to care what is going on. :)

Thank you again for all of the prayers, gifts, and thoughts. I am constantly amazed at the support we have. Truth be told I don't think I could do this as well as I do without the encouragment, and knowing that we are lifted in prayers. Prayers work miracles, they really do.

One last thing, those of you who have been emailing me asking what Rhett needs, he could use onsie outfits in size 2T to 3T. I know they have them at Babies R Us, as well as the Children's Place. He also could use some Baby Legs leg warmers, or the Hugalugs. They can be found online. The leg warmers are a huge help in keeping his legs protected while he can't wear pants.

Our P.O. Box address is in the sidebar.

Thank you again for all of the support. You are all just simply amazing. Rhett sends lots of loves from the very bottom of his heart.

Pam, I've been reading to catch up since Rhett's surgery. I am thrilled to hear he came out of surgery good, although I understand the pain & discomfort our littles suffer post-op.

Continued prayers, good thoughts and hugs. Rhett and your family are a beautiful source of inspiration.

I hope to stop by to visit Rhett on Thursday if that is Okay. Hopefully he will start feeling less pain soon. I will continue to keep him in my prayers.

Pam, your comment about onesies reminds me that I have some 2T/3T one-piece outfits that I cut a slit in to accomodate Nik's feeding tube (especially for overnight feeding). Might not be such a big deal if Rhett doesn't dig in his pants (Nik was REALLY bad about that!). Let me know if you'd like me to send those?

Sorry that the final hour is so tough on Rhett. That makes it tough on mama, too, I know.

Sending love and prayers. xo

Glad to hear you are at least getting a 2 hour break here and there. Do you need ear plugs or Tylenol PM ar anything? I would be happy to bring them to you. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.
Much Love,

Aiden's heart hospital has that medication system, and I like it. Also, are they giving him any tylenol/motrin combination for that 4th hour?

Pam,
I'm so sorry to hear that Rhett is in pain. It breaks my heart to hear that. Just remember that everyday is one step closer to getting out of there and back home. Hope tomorrow is better for him. Rhett is in my thoughts.
