Happy 3rd Birthday Buddy Bear......

So that is how we spent Rhett's birthday today. Not exactly what I had planned, but you make the best with what you are given. Right?

Daddy and the kids came up and we all sang Happy Birthday to him. The child life specialist made him a poster, and some of his favorite nurses got him some balloons and a little stuffed cupcake that sings Happy Birthday.

So far the only diagnosis we have is pneumonia. The antibiotics that they have been giving him through the IV have helped quite a bit. He isn't coughing as much, and no more blood. When they did the snot test they got alot of blood from his throat, which kind of leads us to wonder if the blood that he was coughing up was stuff that was draining down into his throat rather than from his lungs.

He was suctioned really well today 3 different times, and has done very well with his sats since about 4 pm. Right now he is on 1/2 a liter of O's and is sating at 96. We will totally take it. Those 70's are scary. I don't care who you are.

Of course by 8 am we had billing calling our room wanting to know how and when we are going to pay for this hospital stay. I knew it wouldn't be too long before they realized that Rhett didn't have any insurance.

I don't even want to see this bill. I think once I get home I will crawl in a hole and hide from all of the bill collectors. It just never gets any better.

However I am very thankful that Rhett is doing better. Money just doesn't matter right now. All that matters is getting my little boy better.

~I keep wanting to call him my baby, but I guess I can't anymore.

I am still super tired and feel really gross. I am still in the clothes I wore yesterday, slept in last night, and am still wearing today. Andy brought some stuff up to me tonight, but but showering will have to wait until the birthday boy falls asleep for the night.

He hasn't let me get too far out of his sight today, and we haven't gotten a whole lot of sleep in the last 48 hours. Hopefully we can get some rest tonight.

I don't know when we will get home. I would imagine that if he does well tomorrow as he has today, maybe tomorrow evening.

We have stopped all of his oral feeds again, and just doing G-tube feeds, which isn't a big deal because he doesn't really eat much anyways. Just pieces here and there.

I hope we can get home before he catches anything else. Lot's of tummy bugs going around up here.

Okay, enough rambling.....Rhett's feeding tube extension just popped open and he is playing in his stomach contents.....EWWWWWW...bedding change, for the 3rd time today, and maybe a bath now as well......

Night...

P.S. I know I have said it before but I am SO thankful for Signing Time! It's the best, Rhett can communicate and the DVD's are the only thing that entertains him!!!

Happy Birthday, Rhett! Today is a great day to have a birthday - it's my Mom's birthday, too. I'm so sorry you're at the hospital again, though - no fun! Pam, how are you feeling? Probably not much better judging from the lack of sleep. Lots of well wishes, love and prayers coming your way!

You carry the world on your shoulders and you are doing an amazing job:)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RHETT!!!

I am so sorry you are in the hospital. I was actually a little shock when I logged on. I hope and pray that you get to go home tomorrow. I know that it is not fun for a BIG boy to be in the hospital, let alone on your birthday. Kaden doesn't like being there either. I hope that when you get home you have the biggest, happiest birthday party!!! We love you!!!

Oh and Pam, you, of course, still can call him your baby!! I'm 29 and my mom *still* introduces me to people as her 'Baby Tonya' :D

You know, if you REALLY wanted a cool sign on your door, I'm sure your dad could have made you one... you didn't have to go to the hospital for it! :)
Feel better soon sweet boy!
