Hospital drama again......

We just got our statement in the mail about Rhett's hospital stay. They told us that the accounts were on hold, pending the investigation.....yet they billed our insurance companies. The one isurance ran out on the 31st of January. That was the day that they overdosed Rhett. So just who is going to pay the rest? I know that medicade won't, they have already told me that. Here are just a few numbers on how much it costs to hang out in the PICU for 10 days........(oh and by the way, they were nice enough NOT to charge us for the huge amount of dilaudid that they gave him, awwwww.)

1. Rooming charge for staying in an open bed....1047.81....A DAY.
2. Everytime they came in to do an xray....91.87....he had 22 of them.
3. Echocardiograms on his heart.....789.82....he had 4 of those.
4. Placement of the NJ tube for feedings....392.31..TWO of those too.
5. Charge for a nurse to sit there by him...1129.08...2 a day,
6. Charge for being on a ventilator, that THEY caused...641.17....A DAY
7. My all time favorite....CPR/trauma and intubation...1744.28...HELLO

Tell me again why we are even being charged for this when you were the neglectful peices of crap that put him in that situation to begin with! There were alot more meidciene, blood work, nutrition, iv supplies, O2 supplies, OR time, and a bunch of other bull crap that we were charged for. All in all I think it was about a 100,000.00 hospital stay...give or take a few thousand. The statement that they sent me was 18 pages long. If that won't give you a heart attack I don't know what will!!!

Do I sound bitter? It's because I am................

Oooh I'd start keeping a record of this all, and probably begin making threats of "emotional distress" on top of everything else...to have to deal with this, which just seems like more INEPTITUDE.

(Maybe don't listen to me, though, because I've always admired how you took the "high road" and were so compassionate throughout all this...)

ACK.

OH my Pam! That is unbelievable. What in the world are you guys going to do? Is the hospital going to pay for this? Surely...

That is unreal Pam - and why won't medicaid pay??? It doesn't make sense :( The hospital should eat it, and be grateful - or maybe they need a call from your lawyer....

Huge hugs!!!
