"Life is not Measured by the Breaths We take, but by the Moments that take our Breath Away"

This could not be more true. Andy and I had the most incredible experience today, one to let us know that our loved ones who have passed are never far away.

You see, as I have mentioned before, Andy's grandma, (who I also consider MY grandma,) passed away last July. Today, after my Uncle Don's memorial service, Andy had an incredible feeling to go to the cemetery to "visit" grandma.

When we got there, it was like we stepped out of the car and the air all around us just warmed up. We walked over to the headstone, bent down, cleaned off the recently mowed grass that was covering part of it, and this whole time I felt like someone was watching me.

I looked up, and about 10 feet away from us was the most beautiful pure white dove I have ever seen in my life. I touched Andy, and said "Look over there, is that a dove?" He looked up and said, " Yes, it is just gorgeous isn't it." At that moment Chloee started walking over to it. It ran a little then flew up on to the roof of our car.

Andy was just stunned, and said, "No Way...." It paced back and forth on the roof, right above where Hunter and Rhett were sleeping. Then walked over to the edge, and just sat there and watched us. We talked for a few minutes with Chloee and Dakota, then I decided to walk down the hill a ways to see if I could find another relatives headstone.

As I got to the bottom of the hill, and started walking along the road, this dove flies within inches of my head, putting on the most glorious show I have ever seen. It lands about 5 feet in front of me, and prances around a little bit. Dakota, Chloee, and I were reading names, and looking at the pictures engraved on the headstones.

We started back up the hill to where Andy was sitting, just before I got to him, it again flew within inches of my head and landed in some pine trees about 15 feet from us. It sat there for a minute, then again flew on to the roof of our car.

I asked Andy if he was seeing what I was seeing. We both just sat there in disbelief as this beautiful creature hung on to every word we were saying. We talked about how we missed Grandma, and how I was going to miss Uncle Don. I told Andy that I am so glad that my Uncle could be reunited with my Grandpa.

Andy had tears streaming down his face, thinking of the memories with Grandma, and Chloee wiped them away. We all had a huge sense of peace and love. At this time we decided that it was time to go. No sooner did we get those words out, than the dove, did one last glorious swoop over us, and flew away toward the mountains.

As quickly as it had appeared it was now gone. As we left the cemetery, I truly felt that at last we would have peace. Our lives have been in such utter chaos the last two years, there have been times that I thought I could no longer go on. I have gotten down on my knees and begged my Heavenly Father to make it stop. I have told him I cannot do it anymore. But today, all of that went away. I know we are going to be fine. I know there will be peace.

I truly believe that we were sent to that cemetery today to be shown that we are still loved by those that are no longer here. To also be shown that life is eternal, we will see our loved ones again, and yes, we will finally have peace and comfort in our lives once again.

Yes today was a moment that truly took my breath away.

Wow!...I love stories like this. I truly believe the whole thing and the reasons why you say they happened. God is good and will never leave us. Thanks for sharing. Sorry about your sadness but if we never had hardships there would be no way for us to grow spiritually and closer to God.

God was truly with you and your family yesterday, Pam, and He took the form of a lovely dove. What a beautiful and eloquently written piece, and an awe-inspiring experience. Moments like the one you just described, beyond doubt, show us what life is really about...both now and after we leave our bodies. Thank you for sharing. I woke up to your story and it will be with me all day.
