Yucky News on the Dr. Front today....

SIGH......We saw a pulmonoligst today for the first time. She basically told me Rhett is a mess. His tonsils are enlarged, +3 or more, He has moderate pulmonary hypertension, he has silent reflux, which has gotten worse since his hospital episode in February, and his lungs still have not cleared up from his aspiration pnmounnia. She said that he sounds really coarse when he breathes.

So his right valve of his heart has some issues. A normal gradient is somewhere around 22, and his is at 53. Which means that the pulmonary hypertension is not severe, but pretty signifacant. We have him on the norvasc, and she also started him on some Prevacid.

I am beyond mad, because his lungs are even more damaged now than they were before. We go in for a sleep study on the 24th, and then we will decide where to go from there. We are looking at a bronchoscopy, which will have to be done at Primary's, and because of the anesthesia he will have to be in the PICU overnight. Then we are looking at a T&A. Which again he will be put in the PICU overnight.

Last time we did this and he went into the PICU overnight we ended up being there for two weeks. Can I just cry?!?!? I know I need to be strong and face all of this head on for Rhett, but in the same aspect I am scared to death to take him back up to that stupid hospital.

The doctor feels so bad that she is making us go back, and she said if there was any way she could get around it she would, but she knows that none of the other hospitals are equipped to handle him. WAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

We are also looking at starting him on some inhaled steroids. But that will come after the sleep study. She was so sure that we were going to find alot of things with this sleep study that she scheduled some time to sit down and go over the results with us face to face.

She said that his tummy breathing that he does when he is asleep points to the silent reflux, which is why she started him on the Prevacid. The thing that ticks me off the most is that he did not have these problems before the overdose. Yes the pulmonary hypertension was there, but it was not as significant.

He also had a pulmonary stenosis which they opened up when he had his OHS a year ago, and she thinks that maybe he could still be having some issues with that.....Let's see I think that is all for now. I am sure that we will have all sorts of fun things to talk about after the sleep study though.

Oh yeah, they are probably going to put him on a Holter moniter to see if he has excessive bradychardia episodes, if he does, then Heart Cath here we come.

Can I just go crawl into a hole now????? Pretty much everything I did not want to hear today I heard. If you made it this far good for you, I am sure it is all jumbled up, because my head is spinning right now.

On the bright side, at least they found these problems and they didn't go undetected. The outcome of that could've been really awful.
