Overprotective Daddy Taking Over for a Minute.......

Hi all,
This is Rhett’s Big Daddy. I have taken over Pamela’s blog for a moment to express some of my feeling and vent some anger. Earlier today Pamela got a negative comment on her blog. This is normally is not an issue as Pamela just deletes them, because the person(s) leaving the comments are just looking for attention. Much like slutskyaschmidt! Who is a fictional blog stalker that dares too publicly attack the integrity of my family!

Rhett’s Journey is our home page when we open up to the Internet. There are many reasons for this, but the largest and most important is our other children love to read about Rhett and our lives, see all the wonderful pictures mommy and daddy have taken. I guess that this individual can’t read because Pamela has a message that reads "keep in mind that our children read this blog, and the comments, and they need to stay clean and nice". Respect is something I expect from anyone who visits Rhett’s Journey. Pamela’s intentions for this blog are to help keep family and friends up dated on all of Rhett’s up coming events. It is not to create sympathy or anger! If the information is offensive don’t read it, and don’t come back! If you find the blog offensive you really don’t have Rhett’s well being in mind anyway.

Now I’d like to address my dear friend slutskyaschmidt (Seriously, who comes up with a blog name like this? Not very mature if you ask me!) some kind words.

1. Fundraiser #10? I’m not sure if there is a difference between having one fundraiser or a thousand. The fundraisers have not been for self-gain. All the money raised has gone towards increasing the overall wellbeing and rehabilitation of our family. I am more thankful for the prayers everyone has given us because it has opened new doors for us, and helped keep our faith in God strong. Those who have participated or donated in a fundraiser of any kind are nothing less than angles sent from God. Currently with our wings clipped we have needed a little pick up. Our wings are getting stronger everyday, and so we will be able to pay-it-forward to all that has been given to us. Our hope is that we will be able to pay-it-forward one hundred times, and bless other families in need.

2. Car inspected/Desk Job? I have been blessed/cursed with a hard head. Against DR’s orders I have been doing some marketing, sales, website reconstruction, & data entry for a family member. 15-20 hrs per week making $7.00 an hour. While I tried very hard to keep the income coming in my back injury/pain became overwhelming. I don’t expect anyone to understand the pain I was going through. I have been pain free since a week after my back surgery. The plague is that the muscles are still very weak. This prevents me from doing a lot of normal everyday activities. I’m going through physical therapy to strengthen the muscles in my back and stomach. According to the DR’s if I don’t take the time to heal correctly I’ll have to have a second surgery to put in six pins and two rods in my back (Doesn’t sound like fun to me). I’ll be released to full time work April 11th. The catch is I can’t go back to welding, manufacturing, landscaping, or anything that has excessive lifting, bending, twisting, or sitting. Anyone have any good job ideas?

3. Can't stand the hospital? You are correct that I hate the hospital, so does Pamela, Dakota, Hunter, Chloee, & even Rhett! I’ll be with Rhett during and after his surgery March 21st. I will then return on Easter with rest of the kids. I will also go to the hospital if Pamela needs anything. We have three other children that need attention while Rhett is in the hospital. On another note I can’t even care for Rhett at home with my weak back. I’m wondering how can I care for him at all in the hospital. Do you know how it feels when your child wants you to pick them up and you can’t?

4. Sympathy, but anger? Slutskyaschmidt the next time you come stalking Rhett’s Journey keep on moving! If you would like to leave a comment send it right to my email rhettspet@hotmail.com ! If you leave a negative comment on this blog again I’ll be at your door too give you something to write about.

Rhett’s Very Angry Big Daddy,
Andy Bird

What's this, fundraiser # 10? Good grief. Your hubby can go get the car inspected and stuff but can't work a desk job? Hmmm...............He can't stand the hospital, so he won't be there for you and Rhett? Wow, nothing to say to that one. Guess his problems are more important than anyone else's. I don't think you realize how saying things like this about your family doesn't create sympathy, but anger in others. That being said, I do hope that Rhett does well in his surgery and that he will have no problems.

This person should really get a life......or a job!!!

By the way, Rhett gives this comment two birdie fingers straight up.

I want you to know that I was angered very much by that comment too. I believe that your family has had enormous obstacles and I admire everything you have endured. It is obvious to me that this "person" has never had to endure anything remotley close to what your family has had to endure. You are all an inspiration to me and my family. I know it is hard to ask for help and sometimes we have to humble ourselves to do it even when we don't want to. I will keep you family in my prayers and I really hope that all turns out well for you.

Unbelievable. I am so sorry you guys have to waste time getting comments like that. Please know that many people do get so much joy from reading about Rhett and praying for him and your family. Rhett brings joy and love into the world. I pray for Rhett and all of the other children whose blogs I read. There is no shame in asking for help. I believe it takes great strength to do so. We know you are all working very hard and taking care of your family. We will continue to help as we can.

Pam and Andy,

I am so sorry that you all are being attacked like that. It isn't fair with everything you have to endre to have to put up with that as well. You all are doing the best you can with what you've got. I know it's easy to say to ignore the comments, but gosh darn, I know how tough that suggestion really is. I'll keep you all in prayer and even the Slutskyaschmidt person since I am willing to bet they need it too!

Bravo "Rhett’s Very Angry Big Daddy" for sticking up for the family!

I am glad you posted your feelings about this "person's" comment. I can not believe people have the nerve to get onto somebody's blog and leave comments such as this one. I too, am inspired by your family's story and think you all are doing an amazing job raising your children. They look very happy and are blessed to have you two as parents. Hang in there and know that many others are just as upset as you are. Thinking and praying for you all, always...Amy

I found Rhett's blog when Pamela left the link on a KSL post. I feel for you and your family and the obsticles you've endured in your young lives. You have a beautiful family and just know that others are thinking and praying for you and your family at all times.

I can't believe someone would be so insensitive! Your family has enough to deal with! I hope they will just leave you alone. Take care!

I have been reading about Rhett and your family for a few months now... I never would have imagined someone could derive such unkind things to say about you and your family. Good job sticking up for yourselves! Take care,

OK seriously, these stupid stalkers with their comments. You are not the only blog that has had run ins with them. Dont stop posting and putting things up. I put a blocker on mine, so I read them first before they post. Sad that we have to do that but in everything there is one seed that ruins it for everyone. I enjoy and love to read about your family. We have a lot in common. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.!!!

Yay Andy!!!!!!!!

I actually talk to Pam personally and on a regular basis. I can tell whomever that this family HATED having to do any fundraisers PERIOD! Pam lost her job due to Rhett's medical needs (trust me, it's not that uncommon either folks). Andy would LOVE to go back to work and do all the things he was able to do before. However, crap happens. That is just part of life.

It takes a lot of pride swallowing to do what this family has had to do in the past year. And I for one am proud to call them friends who are more like family.

Please disregard people who are cowards, insensitive and don't have a clue about all that you and your wonderful family have been through. I am sorry, that on top of everything you have been dealing with, you now have to deal with this person who is basically just plain mean. Best wishes to you and your wonderful family.

Give me a break!! Get a life is right!! People are so ignorant, and truly cowardly. No one has the right to judge your family, and anyone with half a heart would feel nothing but love and compassion for you all especially sweet innocent Rhett!!! I think about Rhett often and pray for successful surgeries!! We have nothing but love for ya!! I'm with Rhett, 2 fingers WAY UP!!!

Go Andy!!!!
S must never have gone through hardships while trying to raise a family while also going through the medical issues that you have. Or tried to balance keeping things going at home while a little one is in the hospital.

Give that wife of yours a big hug and kisses to Rhett from me.

I like reading your blog, but have never commented, but today I felt compelled to do so. I can't believe that someone would say something like that, they had no right. Don't listen to people like that, you guys are doing an awesome job, people are just ignorant.

What everyone else said plus.. GO ANDY!!! And if S comes back and you need backup, just let us know. We're all right behind you!

WOW I can't believe someone could be so cruel and rude.
You guys are doing the best you can right now and God knows that.
If they knew your family and got to have Rhett give them hugs like I have been lucky to receive, they would know better!
HUGS,
Carolyn

Hey Andy - WTG! You rock. And you know that I love your wife and entire family! Darn these people. Seriously!

Andy - I am so sorry that on top of everything else, you have to hear stupid comments like that one. We've heard a number of doozy's along the way at our place too, and all I can say is some people are just completely clueless, others are just willfully dense, and still others are both willfully dense and completely heartless. I think this individual fell into the third category.

You and your family are doing an amazing job of staying positive and caring for each other under some of the most stressful, heart-rending circumstances imaginable. Hold your head high and know that the type of person stooping to such heartless drivel isn't even worth a sideways glance.

Hugs to you, Rhett, Pam, and your other wonderful kiddos,

I have checked your blog many times. My sister Jennifer is a friends of Alex's and through them I have read about many of the familys with sick children. I admire your strenghts and understand your frustrations. I hope you don't get discouraged by rude people like that. Keep up the good work and only listen to the positive messages.
