Tired......

I am so tired. This has been such an exhausting 4 days, and I swear the next time someone looks at Rhett like he is growing two heads, I am going to punch them.

Yes he has tubes coming out of his nose, and taped to his face. I would so much rather have someone approach me and ask what they are for rather than look at him like he is a nasty bug.

The bad thing is, is that kids will come up to him and talk to him and act like nothing is wrong. But it's the adults that look disgusted.

It's time to go to bed and wake up tomorrow to a new day.

Just a quick update though, we went to the ENT for the follow up from his airway surgery, and he said things look like they have healed well. He still has some swelling from the throat reconstruction, but other than that he looks good.

We will do an endoscopy something or another in 5 weeks to watch his swallowing with a camera and blue dye, then we will repeat the sleep study.

They cleaned out his ear that has been growing some type of a fungus, but there wasn't much left in there, and so the antibiotics orally, and the ear drops have been working. YAY!!

I was glad to hear that they weren't going to have to clean it out anymore. He HATES that.

Time for one last feed before bed, which means another dose of Elmo for the night so I can go to bed hearing Elmo's Got Mail, Elmo's Got Mail..........

I love being a mommy!! :)

Well,it might not cure teh "Elmo's got mail!" you hear in your sleep, but the videos are on their way today! So glad to know Rhett is doing so much better every day.

As for those people who stare...I try to remember that what now seems so "normal" for us is NOT for them and just shrug it off. Ignorance IS an ugly thing, after all. xoxo

I'm so glad that he's healing and getting better, but sorry you have to deal with looks. It would be so much better if they just asked wouldn't it?

I agree with you. I hope Rhett continues to heal and do well. He is so cute!

I remember growing up with my sister who is disabled and people looking at her wherever we went. Not in an inviting, caring way! It was so painful for her growing up. It broke my heart then and even to this day the adults are the worst to her. Other parents have treated her like crap due to her disability. Children are always honest and loving. We could learn a lot from kids.

I understand how you feel about adults staring. I too would rather have people ask questions rather than stare. I think Kaden is at that age that he senses it. Now he waves at everybody. It's pretty cute. It's funny how children can ask "what happened" or "what's that for."

Boy do you have a lot of Elmo DVD's, that's kind of where we are with Blues Clues. Well, I hope everything goes good for you guys this week.

Love, Amy

You poor, sweetie! I hate those looks too. They always put me in 'mama bear' mode. I don't understand why people are compelled to behave so heartlessly. Praying you get some good sleep soon!
