Where Did The Year Go?

I cannot believe it's December. I swear to you we were just living the nightmare of Andy needing back surgery, and looking forward to a new year full of no health issues for Rhett, and a better year financially.

BUT although 2008 wasn't that year, with Andy having one surgery, Rhett having 3 major surgeries, countless hospital stays, and Chloee coming down with mysterious headaches and nausea and vomiting, AND the fact that we have sunk lower financially than any other year since Rhett's near fatal overdose.........

Well, I am looking on the bright side. 2009 is going to be a good year. It has to be. It's not that 2008 wasn't a great year. I mean we hit some HUGE milestones this year. Rhett celebrated his 3rd birthday, and even though he was in the hospital for it, we were able to celebrate, and he used his fork and spoon this year. That is a great milestone!

He has also been using words and putting them together with signs to make complete sentences. His pulmonary pressures went down to the normal range, and that in itself is nothing short of a miracle. He has been learning to use the potty, and has done better than I expected.

We also had his wish granted from Make-A-Wish. That was the most amazing experience we have ever had. It was an exciting day for all of us, and Rachel from Signing Time made it even more exciting, by being there for Rhett on his special day.

There have been some great things happen to us this year, and we are truly thankful for them.

Our lives are full. We are happy. Andy and I have a marriage that has stood up through the most trying times. We have each other. 2008 isn't over yet, there are still 30 more days for us to make this an even greater year.

We have learned to love more than we ever thought possible, as well as to appreciate every moment that we have together.

Thank you for being there for us on our journey. Thank you for listening to my roller coaster of emotions. I know some of you must think I am crazy the way my highs and lows have gone this year. Most of all thank you for letting me share our amazing family with you, and for supporting us in our low times, and celebrating with us during our highs. Thank you for being there as we have our normal times as well.

I am thankful for everyone who has supported us thus far, be it through prayer, donations, or gifts to make our day brighter. One of these days we will pay it forward. Big Time.

Pam: you are amazing in how you see things. I have learned so much from you and your family. I am honored that you allow me to read your blog and pray for you. I will continue by your side on this journey. I hope if there's anything I can do and that's to be an encouragement to you.

You have been though so much, but you have one of the most loving relationships with your family that I have seen. You are truly someone I am inspired by. Praying that the rest of this year and next year sees you all healthy and happy.

Amen sister, next year will be a better year, people always ask me how I keep smiling and I always point to Jax and my other boys and say, how can I not. We have these beautiful, perfect angels and were given the job to take care of them, I'm honored God thought of me to give one of his special angels to.

Regarding your daughter's headaches, only an MRI will find a Chiari (One) malformation which it very well may be. CT scans and x-rays are useless at finding Chiari malformations. Additionally, the person doing the MRI would also need specific orders telling them to look for Chiari since the scan has to be performed further down in the brain stem area. Why haven't any of the doctors thought Chiari? Unfortunately Chiari gets missed so much by doctors and you should really find someone who is an expert in it if they find that's what it is.

What a year! I can't believe how fast this year has gone. We started this year as a family of 3 and now we are a family of 4. Things sure do change! You have an amazing family and I believe that next year will be better.
