Dx..........RSV.......

I am totally shocked by this. For one thing he had it back in October. Now he has it again. I really thought RSV season was over. He is doing good when he is awake, but sleeping is another story.

Good news is that he is having bradycardia instead of tachycardia. (Did I really just say that was good news?!?!?)

I would much rather see his heart in the 50's vs the 170's. At least I know the 50's are normal for him.

I have never been more thankful for the Elmo videos that have been sent to us. They are a lifesaver. Thank you so much to all that sent them. It is making this stay go by much easier already!!!

Daddy is coming up tomorrow to see us, and we can't wait. Thank you Grandma T for giving him the gas money to come up here. We miss him when we are stuck up here.

Come Monday morning if we are still here I need to go down to the Gift Shop and get him a "Loon" he keeps seeing them being delivered, and gets so excited he almost jumps out of bed!!! (Maybe Daddy can stop somewhere on the way up and bring him one......hint hint honey.)

We had a consult with general surgery, and it looks like we will be getting a Nissen and G-tube after he recovers from all of this. For now he is on slow continuous feeds all the time. The bad news? They have to do it open rather than laproscopically due to his diaphragmatic hernia repair. They don't want to knick that patch. So that means a longer hospital stay and recovery time.

Has anyone had any experience with Dr. Black here? I would really like to hear about it if you have. My email is mom2rhett@hotmail.com

Well I am off to go to sleep. I haven't slept since Thursday night, and that horridly uncomfy parent bed is looking like heaven right now.

Thank you for all of the prayers and support. We love each and everyone of you.

Yuck! That's just insult to injury.

Well, if you're needing any encouragement or recent experience with the Nissen and g-tube, pop me an e-mail, k?

Well, on the bright side (sort of?)...it's "only" RSV and you know it can be treated.

I feel for you with the open Nissen surgery. Nik's was open b/c of the intestinal malrotation and obstruction. We were in the hospital for three weeks. I hope that's not your experience but better prepare yourself ...just in case.

Will continue to keep you all in our prayers. xoxo

I meant to add that it *probably* won't be your experience...I think Nik took so long b/c they had rearranged (and cut into) his intestines on top of the Nissen and tube. Didn't mean to scare you...but check it out with the surgeon, for sure. xo

Don't forget to take care of yourself too, okay? I'm so sorry you're going through all of this again. Rhett is such a little trooper. I hope you both come home soon!

??? So the Nissen is a result of the tonsilectomy, adenoidectomy and throat reconstruction?

I've been reading, reading, reading, trying to catch up, but I think I may have missed something, or not? Help! I would love a list of links to each post that addresses the why, when, how, of this nissen and gtube issue for him. :o( I know, you don't have the time.
