F-U-N........
You know, I have been thinking lately, who's to say that having a medically fragile child means you can't have fun, and if the kid is keeping his sats right around 95, (which is borderline for him,) Why can't we take him off of his O2 for a half an hour and go play in the water on a warm day?
You know what? That's exactly what we did. He is having surgery in two weeks. He is going to be down and not doing a whole lot for at least 4 weeks after that. So dang it, we are going to have some fun.
This kid loves the Slip-N-Slide, heck, this kid loves water, all of my kids do. It was warm, so we had fun, and I'm not going to feel guilty over it. Rhett deserves to be a two year old little boy just like anyone else. Even if it means breaking a few rules once and a while......"They're more like guidelines anyways", right?!?!
Check out our fun day today.....

Looks like fun for handsome Rhett! Glad he's out enjoying the fresh air - that's got to be good for him, too, right? Sun, fresh air, FUN & laughter!?! Sounds good to me!
Awwww! This just made my weekend, Pam! So great to see you all out enjoying some sunshine and fun together :D
Awww, its so good to pictures of Rhett having some fun!! He looks like he's loving it!!
Looks like the kids had a blast!!!
We do the same thing. O2 is anything but portable when little boys want to play outside.
I'm so glad he had some fun.
So fun... We had a swimming day at our house today too!
You guys look like you had a blast!!! So delighted to see Rhett having so much fun and being so free....enjoy!
That looks like a blast!!

What fun! I'm glad to see Rhett's smile again and he is able to have some fun again.
Hi!
Be sure that he gets enough pain medication after the fundo.
My son got a "PainBuster", a ball with a thin probe with local anesthetic under the skin. Too bad it was too short (only 2") so he ended up feeling all the pain from half the wound. He did have a lot of pain for about two days, but morphine helped a bit.
There are different lengths probes so make sure it should cover the entire wound area (about 4-5").
We are really glad he had the fundo, our sons life got so much better after that, no more oxygen and no more puking.
Best of luck during the upcoming surgery!

PS. Our blog is in Swedish, but I have a short summmary in English.

I like that the fun blog is right on top of the naughty blog. Looks like a great day for all!
Nothing wrong with that baby having sum fun. after all he's been through he deserves some kid time. Pinch those cheekies for us. he looks like he had a blast.
Fun and laughter...... life's best medicine!!!! You all will be in our prayers as you begin yet another leg of Rhett's remarkable journey. Privileged to be tagging along with you.

Absolutely everyone should enjoy being a kid. LOVE the pictures of the mess Rhett made of his "feeding" accessories...I see so much of Tuck in him or visa versa. Into everything, leave them alone and they can find something to get into. LOVED the leash post.... hee hee. Hang in there and keep your chin up. I find myself thinking about the what ifs as well, especially now that he is such a part of all of us. I dont know what I would do without my TUck Tuck. Hugs to you and kisses to Rhett.
Fun is the best therapy there is! The kids all look so happy.
I learned one big thing while raising a critically ill child of my own, life is too short not to enjoy. Sometimes you have to just cautiously break the rules and let them live a little. Looks like they had a really good time in the water. Brody always loved the water. We really missed doing that with him after he got his trach. But I'm with you. Let them live. "Life is to be enjoyed not just endured"
Hey Pam! Thinking about you a lot lately.... wanted to check in on you! That little Rhett is sooooo yummy! Met Mark Christensen Saturday at the Big Give, he brought 3 paintings to be sold. Nice guy, bought some auction items too. (from Healing Hands) Anyway, are you coming to the picnic?
Much Love,
Tami (Thatchers mom)
